Dawson Lee is a respected figure in the real estate arena with over 21 years of direct experience in the multifamily industry. His acts as both a Managing Partner of Aceland Capital, and the President of Benimax Investment Group.
Dawson received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Renmin University of China, and emigrated from Beijing, China to Montreal, Canada in 1988. He began investing in multifamily properties in Canada in 1997. Following his success in Canada, Dawson translated his keen ability to identify profitable investments to the U.S. real estate market in 2013 with the founding of Benimax Investment Group.
In less than 5 years, Benimax has grown to acquire over 6000 apartment units at the heart of one of the fastest growing markets in the Southeast region. Among the successful projects is a 9-property portfolio acquired in partnership with Silver Point Capital, a Connecticut-based hedge fund led by former Goldman Sachs partners. The $75 million acquisition was sold separately for over $112 million less than two years later, amassing remarkable returns for the investors led by Dawson.
In 2016, Dawson partnered with Lisa Li to form Aceland Capital, while shifting the investment focus from B and C-class assets to high-end, luxurious A-class residential communities. During this process, Dawson lead the expansion of Aceland’s operational territory to Texas and Florida, all the while attracting an increasing number of high net-worth investors and institutional investors from around the world.
Dawson contributes to the local community regularly through charitable donations and the hosting of events which provide platforms for numerous small businesses. His unwavering determination and commitment to his community have earned him the Heritage Award during the 2017 Georgia Minority Business Awards.
Lisa Li is a recognized force in the real estate community. As an entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in building a variety of highly successful businesses, her insight is invaluable in overseeing the company’s initiatives. Lisa’s role as Managing Partner of Aceland Capital and CEO of Greenwood Star has allowed her to originate successful investment projects while ensuring the operational efficiency of the assets through skilled property management.
Following her graduation from medical school, Lisa worked as a lead ophthalmologist in China for eleven years before emigrating to Montreal, Canada, where her entrepreneurial talents were refined. Her portfolio found its roots in the retail and food sectors before diverging into real estate in 1999. During this time, she successfully acquired, renovated, and managed multifamily properties in Montreal.
In 2016, she brought her considerable expertise to the partnership created with Dawson to form Aceland Capital. Aiming to harness the power of growth within thriving markets, Lisa endeavors to invest in A-class assets with predictable returns and optimum growth potential. Her enthusiastic and people-oriented strategy is evident in both her property management and investor relations. In order to ensure the operational efficiency of Aceland’s investments, Lisa established Greenwood Star to provide competent property management services. Through a wealth of resources in information technology, finance, property operations, and human resources, Greenwood Star provides comfortable, first-class living standards for all of its residents while maximizing the income potential of Aceland’s residential investments.
